Nick Cave & Warren Ellis in Austin, TX

When IDLES announced a U.S. tour for late 2021 and didn’t include any Florida stops, I made the decision to travel all the way to New York City to see them at Terminal 5. It was absolutely worth it. I turned a single concert in to a long weekend and made the best of both. So when Nick Cave & Warren Ellis announced a tour with a stop in Austin, I booked a ticket and a flight as soon as it was announced.

A few songs in to their set we abandoned our floor seats for rushing the stage. A 2,700 capacity room became very intimate and the show easily became one of my favorites of all time.

The high from the show lasted the rest of my trip. It was an unseasonably cold March weekend and I did not come prepared so my outdoor plans were shot. I had to make due visiting Austin’s museums, bars, and restaurants - which weren’t half bad.

I even used the cold weather as an excuse to catch The Batman at an Alamo Drafthouse theater and it made me sad the plans for the Orlando expansion were cancelled.
